Reem Acra has been catering to a more youthful customer lately, and showed a fresh Resort collection that had what she called "a signature sophisticated look with a more playful attitude." A series of colorful lace cocktail dresses (in shades such as hibiscus, grass green, and sky blue) captured the designer s vibrant approach this season and should appeal to boldfacers such as Miranda Kerr and Selena Gomez—both of whom have worn the label lately. Even Acra s characteristically elaborate occasionwear felt sleeker and modern here. A case in point was the streamlined red cap-sleeve peplum gown in that same lace embroidered on tulle for an illusion effect; it s "coverage in a sexy way," said Acra. Another standout was a slim white column-shaped evening number featuring a high neckline bejeweled with Swarovski Crystals. In the past, she might ve done a similar look with allover embellishment, but keeping things comparatively pared-down is paying off for Acra.
