Their new resort collectionâwhich Palmer described as in a preview as âunapologetically easy and tranquilââdemonstrates their talent for cutting and draping fabric in the most elegant yet off-center of ways.
âIt revolves around the idea of memory and nostalgia, but with a slowness,â said Harding of the concept behind the collection. âWe feel that we get the best results when we have time to reflect, and that you need a bit of boredom to give birth to creativity.â The mood is especially relaxed, as if the Palmer Harding woman is taking a moment to revel in the luxury of lifeâs in-betweenness. Thereâs an eclectic array of pieces suitable for day and night, from billowing shirts and shirt dresses with cocooned sleeves in cotton and satin, to curve-accentuating knitted separates that sensuously fall off the body.
Other moments include wool and cotton tailored outerwear and pants with louche silhouettesâsome of which feature detachable components, a notion the design duo have explored in recent seasons. The closing look, a black silk crepe floor-length number thatâs reminiscent of an Edwardian gown, feels particularly freshâan effortless blend of history and modernity, while staying true to the brandâs core DNA.
