Fashion’s Night Out: Grace Coddington Is Honored at the 2017 Clio Awards
While many editors are in Paris for the Spring 2018 shows, last night in New York, it felt like something of a Condé Nast reunion, as Vogue Creative Director at Large Grace Coddington was honored at the 2017 Clio Awards at Lincoln Center. Coddington arrived with model, musician, and muse Karen Elson, which sent off a flashbulb frenzy as photographers were eager to capture the two women side by side. Elson told red carpet reporters that they work together whenever they can—or rather, “whenever the dress fits!” And to that, Coddington playfully quipped, “which is pretty much always.” Elson was resplendent in an Alberta Ferretti lace frock, while Coddington kept things casual and chic in Louis Vuitton printed pajamas. Elle Fanning, not Elson, was originally set to present Coddington with the Fashion and Beauty Lifetime Achievement Award, but was unable to attend due to filming for the upcoming Woody Allen movie. “Elle is currently in the park being doused with water as we speak,” Coddington joked with her signature dry sense of humor. “Grace is like my fashion mentor,” Elson said. “We’re both English redheads who love cats, but Grace also gets me and she pushes me. I’ve learned a lot from her.”
