It has been three years, and we re still thinking about the two-piece, highlighter yellow Christopher John Rogers look Michaela Coel wore to the Emmys in 2021. Such is the magic of of an awards show red carpet—it s where we see fashion and styling so captivating, that it sticks with us forever.

Last night, the 2024 Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The 76th annual awards ceremony—honoring the year’s best television programs and performances—was hosted by the father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy. (If you thought the Emmys already happened this year, you re correct; the 2023 ceremony was delayed amid the SAG-AFTRA strike and took place in January. Now, the awards are back to regular September timing.)

As we waited with bated breath to see which shows and actors take home the night s top honors (Shōgun is the most-nominated series with 25 nods, followed by The Bear and Only Murderers in the Building with 23 and 21, respectively) our eyes were glued to the red carpet. The Emmy Awards has a rich fashion history—from Felicity-era Keri Russell in a shimmering Armani Prive gown (2000) to Tracee Ellis Ross in confection-like Valentino Haute Couture (2018). Last night, that tradition continued.
