The 2025 US Open is nearing its close, and the on-court fashion has been just as thrilling as the matches. Naomi Osaka took the court on Day 3, dressed in a red Nike kit with a bejeweled jacket, bloomers, and red roses in her hair. Matching her jacket? A rhinestone-encrusted Labubu, which Osaka dubbed “Billie Jean Bling.”
We already expected a strong fashion showcase at the American Grand Slam: This spring, Gauff announced her forthcoming Miu Miu x New Balance collaboration, which she teased at the Cincinnati Open earlier this summer. The collection officially drops September 10, during the height of the US Open. Brand collaborations are fertile ground in the tennis world. Case in point: In June, Kith once again teamed up with Wilson for a capsule collection, offering both tennis gear and apparel, ranging from rackets to preppy activewear alike.
Gauff wasn’t the only one to incorporate high fashion into their kit. Venus Williams tapped the New York-based label Khaite for a custom navy cap-sleeve tennis dress with white piping for her mixed doubles match with Reilly Opelka. No stone goes unturned for Williams, who turned to Lacoste (who also created her 2025 Met Gala look) for her footwear. Sticking to the New York-based brands, Williams also tapped Brooklyn-based designer Raul Lopez to create a custom Luar look in partnership with Woolmark for her match with John McEnroe: a black tennis dress with an asymmetrical pleated skirt, a track jacket festooned with buttons, and a waterproof athletic bag.
Elsewhere, Jessica Pegula hit the court in a Y-3 tennis dress that featured an abstract amber motif from Y-3’s fall 2025 collection. Other Adidas athletes will wear the new tennis-centric collaboration between Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto throughout the tournament.
Some players are taking custom to the next level. Novak Djokovic hit the court in a custom Lacoste jacket, the back featuring a world map highlighting each of the Grand Slam hosts. Taylor Townsend made a splash with her style, showing off her own namesake label on the court. Playing mixed doubles alongside Ben Shelton, Townsend—the number 1 doubles player in the world—donned a white cropped long-sleeve and black skirt with Tyrannosaurus rex footprints along her shoulders and waistband (an homage to her 4-year-old son, a dinosaur lover).
