We decided to get married at a family friend s historic villa in Tuscany. Jon and I had our heart set on getting married somewhere far away and romantic. Here, I am upstairs at the villa getting ready before the ceremony.

Peter [Dundas] managed to make me really calm about the one thing I found to be very difficult—the dress. I went to a million different places and tried on a million different dresses, and couldn t find one that felt right. But, the second Peter and I started talking, everything went seamlessly.

I don t consider myself to be an extremely traditional person, but the one thing I really wanted was this traditional wedding-dress silhouette, with sleeves and a train. My bouquet was Lily of the Valley.

The most important part of the dress was the bow that tied across my shoulders at the back, and then sort of cascaded down mid-leg. And then the jewelry was very important because it s what my mother-in-law does—she has a jewelry company called Sidney Garber. The dress didn t allow for a lot of jewelry, so we decided on the diamond pearl drop earrings that she was married in.

The veil was hand-sewn with flowers cut from the same lace used on the dress.
