Ballroom Marfa Celebrated 20 Years With a Bridgehampton Summer Party Under the Stars

A scenic golf cart ride transporting guests to Virginia Lebermann s home marked the start of an idyllic evening in Bridgehampton on Saturday.
She was hosting Ballroom Marfa s very buzzy and sold-out summer party, which raises funds for the non-collecting art museum s various commissions and programs. The event was also a celebration of 20 years since she first established the museum alongside her co-founder Fairfax Dorn.
"We are so excited that we made it this far and that we have supported over 700 artists," said Lebermann. She was sporting an airy black ensemble by the Mexico City-based artist designer Carla Fernández, who lent her creative direction to everything from the lanterns to tablescapes.
Guests in their very best festive attire took in the picturesque meadow and hills while mingling poolside over cocktails and music by the saxophonist Sofía Zumbado. For the dinner portion, long winding tables under rows of lights and tulip trees created the perfect summer night setting.
The menu by Chef Yann Nury featured Latin-inspired courses, including arroz rojo, nopales, summer vegetables in mole verde, grilled tortillas, and jalapeño cornbread, all paired with Casa Dragones tequila.
Dorn walked over to each side of the table to chat with guests, which included Sheree Hovsepian, Rashid Johnson, Marc Glimcher, Arden Wohl, Douglas Friedman, Stella Schnabel, Yvonne Force Villareal, Lisa Perry, Alexander Vreeland, Hank Willis Thomas, and other notable art world types.
"We are based in a very remote place in West Texas…Beautiful creative dinners like this allow us to bring national support to Ballroom Marfa," Dorn said.
The night was still young at around 10 pm, where guests were served tasty desserts (the churros with dulce de leche were a big hit) and danced to sets by DJ Rupture before taking the golf carts back to their cars and wrapping up another memorable Ballroom Marfa summer party.
