The Mask: Fig + Yarrow Red Clay Face Mask, $18; oroborostore.com
The Ritual: “The first time I met the Himba women in Namibia, I was enamored with their beauty rituals. Their skin was incredibly soft, which they attributed to the red clay they used all over their bodies every day. I went into Oroboro and saw this, took it home, fell in love—and the rest is history.”

The Mask: Wedderspoon Premium Raw Manuka Active 16+ Honey, $36; capbeauty.com
The Ritual: “Cleopatra used to bathe with honey, so that’s reason enough. I really love how my skin feels clean but not dried-out after using this honey as a mask. Plus, it’s natural—and delicious to eat as well!”

The Mask: Pai’s Rosehip Bioregenerate Rapid Radiance Mask, $60; capbeauty.com
The Ritual: “I love that Pai never uses any chemicals in their products, so I can trust what I’m putting on my skin. This mask is super-cooling, and the rosehip helps with the redness from the summer heat! I use it at night after a long day of teaching.”

The Mask: Radiće Honey and St. John’s Wort Mask; for details: info@radiceapothecary.com
The Ritual: “This organic, small-batch moisturizing mask is my absolute favorite. It utilizes plants such as aloe, sesame, and St. John’s wort to stimulate the skin to maintain hydration. I use it after flying and at least once a week. I also try to use masks in the sauna at Body By Brooklyn; the heat opens the pores and pushes all the toxins out.”

The Mask: Glossier Mega Greens Galaxy Pack, $22; glossier.com
The Ritual: “Full disclosure: I’m not a mask fiend, but there is something about doing a mask that makes me feel like I really have my act together. Like, I’m so ahead of the game in terms of time management that I am getting ready for bed—washing my face, doing a mask—20 minutes before I actually plan to go to bed (as opposed to passing out on the couch with my laptop and then waking up at 1 a.m. resenting that I haven’t washed my face yet). This Glossier mask—filled with vitamin-rich greens and antioxidants and detoxifying minerals—means I’m getting my greens! Like a juice! On my face! Anyway, by the time the mask actually is applied, what it does is beside the point. My skin’s glowing as much from the mask’s purifying qualities as it is my own self-satisfaction.”

The Ritual: “Lately, I’ve been nursing a bit of dry skin from frequent swimming, sun, and salt water, so I’ve been mixing these two masks in equal parts. Now, I am fully addicted to the combination—how it purifies my pores, yet makes my skin incredibly soft and nourished, never tight. Mixing them up while my three-and-a-half-year-old son is in the bath has become something of a weekly ritual. Harvey thinks I look hilarious covered in the blend of honey, clay, and spices and usually asks me to give him some as well (I think he sees it as a form of the masks his beloved superheroes wear). I’m OK with that, since the line is completely natural and nontoxic.”
