Celebrity Friendly Exes Slideshow

It took them almost two years after announcing their split to file the papers to end their marriage, but in all of that time, Affleck and Garner didn’t seem to let their relationship sour. During press tours for his films, the actor praised Garner several times for her support in co-parenting their kids, and in a candid Facebook post he publicly thanked her once again for helping him get through a stint in rehab. Even their divorce paperwork was amicable. The two reportedly introduced divorce filings pro per, which means sans lawyer. Doesn’t get much friendlier than that.

The pair who coined the infamous term “conscious uncoupling” have lived up to their great expectations. Much like Garner and Affleck, Paltrow and Martin quietly divorced roughly a year after they separated. In a recent interview, Paltrow admitted that their divorce had even brought them closer together. “It’s like we are still a family, but not a couple,” she said. “I think we are better as friends than we were [married]. We are very close and supportive of one another.” And one look at the actress’s Instagram feed proves it. Just last month, she shared a happy photo of her and Martin with their kids, Apple and Moses, along with the caption: “Happy 40th Birthday to the best daddy in the world!!! We [love] you so much!”

Long before Goop and its terminology ever became a thing, everyone in Hollywood looked to Willis and Moore as the ultimate example of how to stay friends with your ex. Who can forget when they both walked the red carpet together, three daughters in tow, along with Moore’s then flame (now ex-husband), Ashton Kutcher? Even after Moore’s marriage to Kutcher dissolved, her relationship with Willis stayed strong. “I never had to split up vacations or split up birthdays,” their daughter Rumer Willis once said. “They always made an effort to do all of the family events still together, and made such an effort to still have our family be as one unit, as opposed to two separate things, which I think really made an impact.”

Looks like Affleck and Garner weren’t the only exes spending Easter together: Carey and Cannon often spend holidays together with their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, and sometimes hit the red carpet with each other. They’ll even face the tabloids together: Earlier this year, after the National Enquirer falsely speculated that Carey was trying to get full custody of her kids, the singer took to Instagram to put the rumors to rest. “Nick is the father of my children,” she wrote, “we will always stand up for each other, have each other’s backs, and we will always remain a strong family.”

Even though Watts and Schreiber ended their 11-year relationship last September, they still act like close friends on social media. A few weeks after announcing their split, Watts shared a lovely photo of Schreiber with their two kids on Instagram—clearly the go-to move to show the world you are, in fact, still friends with your ex—while Schreiber commented on the actress’s throwback birthday photo by writing, “Happy Birthday Sweetheart.”
