“I’m currently in dance rehearsals for Coachella working with Fatima Robinson, who has me boxing every night to get fighting for the desert! The upside of traveling is that we get to meet a lot of new people around the world who have helped add to our health regimen. At a health store in Portland, a lady who was a legit herbal queen created the ultimate green mix for us to carry on the tour bus. Two scoops of the green powder added to some juice keeps us charged from sound check through to the after-party. Going to a local bar after the show and dancing with the crew is also a great way to stay fit!”

“[When] I’m getting ready for a tour, [I] start taking multivitamins and supplements like echinacea and oregano oil to boost my immune system, because I get sick really easily. I do yoga, which helps me physically and also keeps me calm. I try not to eat [right] before a show because the nerves and all the commotion will get me pretty messed up, I’ve learned. Plus, it gets tricky singing consistently for a whole set when you just ate a burger. I always have candy around backstage! Candy is very important to my general happiness.”

“I am all about the solo workout when I prepare for a big performance. Lots of time [is] spent in front of the mirror practicing the exact performance on repeat, [which] ensures that my body and mind go into autopilot mode once I hit the stage. This helps to eliminate the fear and anxiety one can experience related to such a massive performance. On the exercise front, you ll find me hiking solo—the clarity and peace of mind I get from hiking helps calm me [and] also preps my body for the extreme heat of the desert. Also, [I] drink hella water!”

“If I have learned anything from playing shows, it’s that whatever you feel on the inside translates directly to your audience. I’ve had to make running a part of my routine so that I have enough endurance to play an hour set in the heat of a summer festival. Running three miles every other day does the trick. I also carry around a snack bag with my favorite Think Thin power bars, rice cakes, one avocado, and dates. This is important just in case I don’t have any time to search for food backstage. If my belly is hungry, my voice sounds hungry. And one more trick is if I have 20 minutes to spare in my day, I will do a quick livingroom workout to keep my butt on point: five rounds of 10 push-ups, 20 squats, [and] 20 lunges. You’ll start to work up a sweat, but it’s not enough to ruin your makeup.”

“Go out into nature. Go hike. It’s truly the best thing for you physically and mentally. When I’m home, I go at least once or twice a week, if not more, and I always feel happier and more energized after. It just makes you take a few steps back and realize how all the things we stress over on a daily basis don’t even matter.”
