Designer Charles Jeffrey Rang In His 33rd Birthday With A Trip to NYC and Shared His Travel Diary With Vogue

All roads lead to New York City. Well, at least the yellow (and glittery) brick roads of the fashion industry that have made NYC the industry’s equivalent to the Land of Oz. In this story, Dorothy is none other than the British designer Charles Jeffrey of Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, who clicked the heels of his white claw-clad shoes three times and turned a business trip—to set up an installation at Dover Street Market—into a full exploration of all the Big Apple has to offer.

First up were the museums: Checking out the Jackson Pollock at the Museum of Modern Art, the new Japanese poster art exhibition at the Poster House museum, and, of course, the Met. Then some meet-ups with his designer peers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver of Duckie Brown and KidSuper’s Colm Dillane (these meetings did serve a purpose, which you’ll read about at a later date). There were also many outdoor activities: row boats in Central Park, a boat trip to the Statue of Liberty, and crossing the Brooklyn Bridge on foot. And finally, the simple pleasures, like finding a new moon on your birthday, an ocean away from home.
