Inside the Dior Sweet Shop—where the New Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil Was on the Menu
A baby pink-hued candy shop popped up on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood on Tuesday—for one night only. Screen stars and content creators made their way there to celebrate the launch of an all-new Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil and the Rosy, Peachy, and Purple Glow fragrances, joining Dior Beauty for a sugar-themed soirée. Guests were welcomed to pucker up and enjoy a delectable spread of sweets, alongside a peek at the latest formulas.
By 6 p.m., the space was already awash with attendees, who were greeted by human-sized Dior Addict fragrances to pose with. Just around the corner, a dessert-filled room sparked audible gasps. Apothecary jars were stuffed to the brim with M&Ms, gum-balls, and various jellies and gummies, while a DIY canelé station in the back offered custom bite-size cakes with sprinkles, strawberries, and slivered almonds. Everywhere you looked, people were crowded around mirrors, keen to try out the new iterations, which are infused with cherry oil for all-day hydration.
According to Peter Philips, Dior’s creative and image director of makeup, the team was careful not to completely alter the famed lip glow formula—after all, it’s a cult-favorite for a reason. “But for me, it missed something, which was the effect,” Philips explained. “We worked for about two to three years to fine-tune it without changing too much, but giving the possibility to add pigment and different finishes.” The outcome: Two new shine finishes, Sparkly and Glaze, in 16 glossy hues.
Anya Taylor-Joy, a Dior global brand ambassador, was holding court in a fairytale-worthy custom gown adorned with embellishments—her lips shining brightly. Having had VIP access to early samples of the refreshed lip oil, she’s been savoring it for some time. “Your lips can actually take much more of the oil than you think they can. It doesn’t move that much—so you can go hard with it,” she laughed.
On the fragrance front, Francis Kurkdjian, the perfume creation director for Dior, has been busy too. Kurkdjian described the trio of new scents—Rosy Glow, Peachy Glow, and Purple Glow—as playful, feminine, and sexy. “It took a year to complete them,” he shared. “We started with the idea of ‘glow’ based on the lip glow created by Peter. And then we created a dialogue by pairing the fruity side of flowers which are iconic within the house of Dior: Jasmine and peach, rose and lychee, and raspberry and iris.” Taylor-Joy has become loyal to Peachy Glow, in particular. “It’s so nostalgic,” she said, referring to how the white jasmine accord notes evoke memories of her childhood.
The celebration and unveiling served as a reunion for Taylor-Joy and fellow campaign face, Willow Smith. “I haven t seen her since the shoot day,” the actress said. “We always get these little moments throughout the year to check in and see how the other is doing. So I’m looking forward to catching up.” Smith, clad in an emerald green half-zip and a crisp white button-up, opted for a beauty look that toed the line between subtle and statement. “I wanted to do something kind of simple, but, you know, we are at a Dior event, so I didn’t want to come with nothing on,” she said of her sparkly eyeshadow.
Partygoers, including Odessa Young, McKenna Grace, Odeya Rush, Julia Butters, Ji-young Yoo, and Will Price, tucked into treats in the main room and enjoyed beats by DJ Brett Hartt, while others eventually made their way to a secret area in the back, complete with a bar—featuring a Peachy Blossom cocktail and Dusty Rosy and Purple Fizz mocktails.
