Inside Dior’s Medallion Chair Exhibition Opening 

Many things kicked off Art Basel Miami Beach this year; one of the fashion labels to do so was Dior. On Monday night, the maison gathered a chic group of style and art-lovers in town for all the festivities at Superblue, a gallery across the street from Rubell Museum.

Inside, Dior took over the space with its Medallion Chair exhibition, which sees how 17 artists interpreted the very-Dior round-backed chair. (The exhibition was first on view at Milan’s Salone.) Sam Baron, Nacho Carbonell, Pierre Charpin, Dimorestudio, Khaled El Mays, Martino Gamper, Constance Guisset, India Mahdavi, nendo, Joy de Rohan Chabot, Linde Freya Tangelder, Atang Tshikare, Seungjin Yang, Ma Yansong, Jinyeong Yeon, Tokujin Yoshioka, and Pierre Yovanovitch all participated in the show.

Guests arrived to a full-on block party, where caviar potatoes and lobster rolls were being dolled out of an AirStream. Cocktails circulated as guests toured all the chairs which, no you could not sit on. In some cases, the chairs were so inventive, they embraced form rather than function.

Guests in attendance included Karlie Kloss, Venus Williams, Ricky Martin, Lucas Jagger, and more.
