My “work wardrobe” and “going out wardrobe” aren’t polar opposites, but I definitely feel different kinds of pressure in both scenarios. At work, I’m surrounded by women who aren’t just stylish, they understand style in a way that makes you want to look a little more nuanced. Vintage handmade dress? Yes! Slouchy men’s Levi’s? Absolutely, but only with good shoes. You get the idea. My work uniform is basically this: jeans, flats or loafers, and a fancy top. I literally wear jeans every day, so my closet is stuffed with ruffled tops, crisp button-downs, vintage blouses, and statement jackets. In fact, I rarely buy pants, skirts, or dresses—I’m always buying tops.
As for “going out,” I’m all for wearing flats to the bar, but my clothing options feel limited. I hate things that are too clingy, I rarely wear skirts, and most of my dresses hit below the knee. So I usually end up wearing high-rise jeans (usually Citizens of Humanity) with a T-shirt or a camisole, and maybe some cool earrings. It would be nice to get some great boots into the mix, though—I haven’t invested in boots for a few years, but these patent leather ones would upgrade all of those basics.

For me, this one is quite simple. On weekends, I happily adopt the athleisure look for daytime (full disclosure, I’m never coming from the gym—yes, I’m one of those people). All I need is a pair of Adidas leggings, an oversize T-shirt, a Helmut Lang leather jacket or parka, and a baseball cap for bad hair days. In summer, swap out the leggings for denim shorts, and the leather jacket can often stay home.
And while our industry certainly doesn’t require a corporate aesthetic, you can rest assured that the leggings and denim shorts will never see the inside of my office! What does see the inside of my office is an excessive amount of leather pants, 3x1 denim jeans, plenty of blazers (current fave is from Ellery), and Gucci loafers.

My wardrobe is a split between my usual work wardrobe and off-duty weekend workout wear. My drawers are overflowing with performance gear—running tights, athletic tank tops, fleece running jackets, and all-weather running shells. My weekend look is the complete opposite of my workweek look as I wear mostly athletic performance gear from Patagonia, Lululemon, Adidas, Tory Sport, and New Balance. I switch out my purse in favor of backpack. I have three backpacks on rotation between Sandqvist, Duluth Pack and my Building Block canvas, and a leather pack. My shoe of choice for the weekend is the Adidas Originals NMD R1 Runner in black. My off-duty look is most certainly athletic these days, but I am chalking it up to the fact that I am running the marathon on November 6.

My office garb and “OOO garb” aren’t terribly different, but I would say two things I wear to the office pretty regularly and almost rarely to never OOO are platforms and trousers (together or apart). I guess I would really never wear skirt OOO unless [it was] for something fancy, otherwise I dress almost the same.
