Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God had a landmark seventh collection for spring 2021 with the introduction of three new categories—tailoring, accessories, and knitwear. The new assortments arrived just at the right moment when the pandemic was redefining American luxury fashion, and Fear of God provided us all with what we actually wanted to wear.
Lorenzo is nimble and attuned, and FOG’s expansion positioned the brand as one to watch. Today, as a part of Nordstrom’s ongoing New Concepts series (a partnership platform to discover what is next in fashion), FOG launches a digital and physical pop-up.
All extensions of the Fear of God brand are available to shop, including the mainline capsule, an exclusive Essentials capsule, drops of the brand’s seventh collection, the next installment of the brand’s collaboration with New Era, and even the recently debuted kids line. “Outside of Fear of God’s experiential pop-up in Downtown L.A. back in 2019, this is the first time all elements of the brand have been brought together in one place in North America and we are excited to partner and share the brand’s distinct interpretation of American luxury,” says Sam Lobban, SVP of Designer and New Concepts at Nordstrom.
The custom-built in-store shop echoes FOG’s clean and minimalist aesthetic with walls and fixtures that resemble limestone and concrete, giving consumers new and old a 360 degree understanding of FOG’s ethos. “Out of the gate, it is important for our consumers to know that with each of these offerings, there is something for everyone,” Lorenzo tells Vogue. “Whether it is a hoodie from Essentials, an overcoat from our mainline, or going into the future athletic shoes with Adidas—we wanted to show our consumers that these three pillars can live together, and although the price points may be different, the purpose and the consideration of each piece hasn’t changed.”
From suiting to knitwear, the range of FOG clothes available at the shop speak to right now, when we’re prioritizing comfort and simultaneously embracing polished, elevated pieces. “I really love the camel-colored suit, which feels like the perfect everyday suit that you could dress up or down, in the way that it’s shaped, in the way that it falls,” he says of his favorite piece. “The jacket feels like a lightweight jacket you could wear with denim or sweats; if you want to wear it to a wedding, I think you will be immaculately dressed.” There’s a hunger for multi-functional pieces that can outfit us wherever life takes us as we reemerge—and the FOG offerings at Nordstrom does just that.
