Helena Christensen Brought the Beauty Industry Together to Celebrate Danish Brand Hårklinikken

For a Danish beauty brand with plans to be known all over the world? A new campaign star in the form of a Danish beauty, who most certainly is. Customizable scalp-care line Hårklinikken recently tapped Helena Christensen for its first-ever campaign, which it fêted in style at Estela on Thursday evening.
“I woke up like this,” Christensen mischievously told a dinner seatmate, when asked about her buoyant curls. Indeed, her tresses had actually been tended to by her friend of 25 years, Harry Josh. But waking up with hair that looks so good it demands queries from all those around you is the goal of Hårklinikken, which puts an emphasis on achieving a healthy, hydrated scalp through a targeted approach—its name says it all, translating to ‘hair clinic’ in English.
To toast to the brand’s milestone moment with founder Lars Skjøth, Christensen insisted that the team take over one of her favorite New York City restaurants. The Michelin-starred downtown eatery was full to the brim with beauty editors and the industry’s most in-demand professionals, so cocktail hour and dinner table talk, of course, led to chatter about who glammed who for the Met Gala and its late night after parties.
Makeup maestros like Nam Vo and Hung Vanggo and hair pros including Jenna Perry, Kumi Craig, and Danielle Priano were all in attendance. Even feeling the effects of a hectic first Monday in May and beautifying A listers back-to-back all week, Vanngo wouldn’t have missed it for the world. “She’s like my guardian angel,” he said of Christensen. The evening’s real guest of honor also came in the form of Christensen’s mom, who was sitting proudly opposite her daughter a mere two hours after landing at the airport from Copenhagen.
As guests tucked into famed family-style dishes like the ‘how can a salad be this good?’ endive, walnut, and anchovy combination, Wagyu steak, and fried black rice with squid, Skjøth teased that there’s much more to come Stateside from the clean, science-powered brand, which he launched in 1992, making it a pioneer in the now-buzzy category. “So there’ll be lots more dinners,” he promised with a laugh.
“I have a great admiration for Helena,” Skjøth said of his fellow Dane, who’s been a client since 2020. “I am inspired by her adventurous attitude and appreciation of the natural world. She is someone who believes beauty comes from being your healthiest, strongest, and most authentic self.”
“Hair is such an important part of who you are,” added Christensen. “I play around with different hairstyles all the time and my hair very much reflects my personality and mood. We generally only think about how our hair looks, without realizing that the health of your hair is what will actually make it look and feel its best.”
To depart, attendees received their own Stabilizing Scalp Shampoo and Weightless Conditioner. With any luck, they’d be waking up as a supermodel version of themselves by the weekend.
