The 7 Runway Moments That Made Kendall Jenner a Modeling Superstar
Every Vogue cover star got their start somewhere. For Kendall Jenner, the 20-year-old fashion superstar, she earned her cred on the runway. The year was 2013 and she had just signed with New York modeling agency The Society Management, much to the surprise of certain naysayers who considered the California girl a reality TV phenomenon first and foremost. Well, a cool three years later, and we think it’s safe to say Jenner has proven the haters wrong. Not only has she become a regular on Marc Jacobs’s runway, but she’s also won over some of fashion’s most influential designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada, and Riccardo Tisci.
Today, seeing Jenner strut her stuff in New York, Milan, or Paris is far from unusual. There she is with Gigi Hadid in lingerie for Victoria’s Secret! Here she comes, as a blonde, at Balmain! She even walked on water for Fendi’s 90th anniversary show. All this to say that Jenner is more of a chameleon than you might think. Here, we revisit the seven iconic moments in her runway career so far.

Jenner made headlines for her appearance in Jacobs’s Fall show, not only because it was her first major runway turn, but also because she did it in a semi-sheer top. Let’s just say the then-18-year-old already knew how to make a grand entrance.

Ah, the moment Jenner became a Givenchy girl! After her walk for Jacobs in New York, she made select appearances for the remainder of the season, including a memorable turn for Givenchy. In the years since, she has become one of Riccardo Tisci’s muses, walking in many of his ready-to-wear and men’s shows.

Jenner walked for Chanel several times before rising up the ranks and closing out the brand’s haute couture show as the bride in 2015. She took a solo lap around the casino-themed set, showing off her ivory suit and train, then kissing Karl Lagerfeld on the cheeks before his wave.

Jenner strutted the 2015 Victoria’s Secret show, appearing on the runway in two ensembles. The first was a princesslike take on lingerie, the second a psychedelic hippie-inspired look with a long train.

The hair swap that shocked the world happened at Balmain’s Fall 2016 show. Jenner opened the show with a flowing blonde ’do, while her friend Gigi Hadid appeared later on with brown hair a similar shade as Jenner’s. The press went wild, but of course the switch was only temporary, courtesy of Balmain’s line of hair extensions and wigs.
