Bella Hadid DJ’d at Her Sister’s NYFW Party for La Detresse

Last night, fashion week devotees found unlikely solace at Gospel. At the celestial Soho haunt, Alana Hadid and Emily Perlstein of La Detresse celebrated the launch of their collection, L.A. Stress. Much like the clothes, the mood was casual and warm.

“We wanted this party to be fun,” Hadid explained. “For people to take a break from all the craziness of the week.”

The creative force within the duo, Hadid, layered a distressed denim jacket over an abstract, black-and-white set. Her business partner Perlstein looked a bit more subdued in a color-blocked sweatshirt and leather pants. The two long-time friends joined forces in 2017 to start a line of luxury streetwear.

Savoring cocktails blended from Tanqueray and Casamigos, guests floated in and out of the celebration, which lasted from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.—or in NYFW time, from the end of R13 through Brandon Maxwell and the debut of e1972. Fittingly for a hard partying crowd, bottles of BrightFox lined bar. For many, Gospel was not the only stop of the night.

The name of the collection came from a friend’s inability to pronounce “La Detresse.” Ironically released in Manhattan, L.A. Stress serves an homage to the founders’ adoptive home. With colors like “sunset after dark” and “malibu sand,” the clothes convey a distinctly West Coast ease.

Looking every bit the supermodel, Bella Hadid came to support her sister. The model even took her turn behind the DJ booth.
