Inside Lucy Hale’s Non-Stop Front Row Experience

Lucy Hale might be hard at work on the forthcoming Riverdale spinoff, Katy Keene, but when she headed to New York last week for the collections, she decided to go all in. Fashion week is more than a succession of shows, after all; the excitement permeates the entire city. For Hale, half the fun was watching well-dressed attendees as they ran from one appointment to the next in outlandish attire. “Getting to see the street style up close was very cool to me,” she shared after the trip. “[To] see people’s imaginations come to life and the outfits they pulled together, I just loved it.”
The week also allowed Hale to have a few stand-out style moments of her own. Sitting front row at shows like Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, and Michael Kors, she stepped out wearing the very best in American design. “I had all of the help from my stylist, Micaela Erlanger, who has such an amazing eye,” says Hale, who went for a no-holds-barred approach to fashion week style. “I definitely am willing to try anything, but also really trust her opinion and ultimately we land on the same things anyway.”
The runway action—plus, the star-studded party for Dior’s Hudson Yards boutique—meant Hale was always on the go, but she also found time to take in the city like a true New Yorker; walking through the streets, and indulging in a little people watching. "It s how you see and experience the city the best," she says. Here, Hale takes Vogue along for the journey, sharing an insiders view of fashion week.
