Why Fashion Girls Are Swapping Out Selfies for #FoodPorn Inline
Photo: Courtesy of Margaret Zhang / @margaret__zhang1/12Because the layout can get complicated, you have to make sure the colors don’t clash. I happened to be wearing black and gold Balmain ankle boots, which matched the Ladurée box—everyone loves macarons!—so I added them to the shot with my black Alexander Wang bag. Then I filled the frame with other black and gold items: Frends headphones, a candle and body cream by Lumira, and gold jewelry from ASOS and Gold Philosophy. I got impatient and took a bite—luckily, I had to fill in that gap in the center.

Photo: Courtesy of Margaret Zhang / @margaret__zhang3/12It’s important to look out for small details. Sandra [Semburg] and I were in Paris for couture, and the woven pattern on these chairs went so well with Sandra’s Céline dress. I snuck in her bright red lips for another pop of color, and the food is there to provide context—we were having lunch in Saint-Germain. The mini Givenchy Antigona bag is actually my camera bag—it fits my Nikon D750 and an extra lens, but you’d never know it from the outside.

Photo: Courtesy of Margaret Zhang / @margaret__zhang5/12I took this photo on a marble bench at my friend’s place where I was studying (you can see a law textbook under my Frends headphones). Colorful foods are always good—anything with fruit. Berries in particular are always a winner, especially alongside more monochromatic pieces. I always have jewelry hiding in the bottom of my handbags. Here you can see Larsson Jennings and AÃRK Collective watches and Sarah Sebastian rings, along with my Smythson ideas notebook and the Guerlain perfume I was wearing that day.
