The Met Gala 2025 Entered Its No-Mascara Era
When one thinks of glam, one immediately thinks of long, voluminous lashes—but leave it to the 2025 Met Gala to redefine that. The latest makeup trend to be birthed on the blue-and-floral carpet proves the staying power of a quiet moment: Call it the no-mascara makeup look.
This year’s Met Gala celebrates the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and the immense cultural impact of Black dandyism. While the impeccably tailored pieces and the odes to 1920s finger waves made the biggest splash, some stars’ makeup took a more subtle approach. Lorde paved the way with what looks like barely-there lifts to her natural lashes. And leave it to quiet-luxury queen Sofia Richie to go minimal with a hint of blush to define her cheeks.
