Naked Dressing Continues to Rule the Red Carpet in 2024

At last night’s party, the sheer trend showed no signs of stopping—although some looks were more subdued than others. Kendall Jenner wore a sheer, body-hugging dress from Maison Margiela Artisanal’s spring 2024 collection that was strategically lined. Emma Stone, meanwhile, celebrating her win for best actress, debuted a sheer sequined ensemble from Nicolas Ghesquière’s anniversary collection for Louis Vuitton, which was on the runway just five days prior. Stone wore a fun lavender lingerie set underneath for a bit of modesty.

Others, like Anitta and Florence Pugh, decided to #FreeTheNips on the red carpet. The singer wore a chain-mail piece from Kim Jones’s most recent spring 2024 couture collection for Fendi, while Pugh’s sheer peplum look was designed by Simone Rocha for Jean Paul Gaultier Couture.

While most of the so-called naked-dressing looks this season stayed in the neutral territory, Charli XCX made the case for color in a sunshine yellow Givenchy gown that was also backless. The sheer trend proved to be generationless, as Hollywood newbies like Iris Law and Sabrina Carpenter, as well as actor Meg Ryan, shined in their see-through looks.
