These Stylish 12 NBA Stars Prove They’ve Got More Than Game Inline

Position: Point guard
Style claim to fame: It all started with a flashy mix of red-frame glasses and a patterned blouse for Oklahoma City’s headline-grabbing point guard. As Westbrook tore through the 2012 Playoffs, it was his bold, trend-heavy personal style that made an undeniable splash with the media, catapulting him from the gym to the front row. Westbrook became a fashion world darling with his own line of sunglasses and collaborations with True Religion, making calf-grazing pants, skinny jeans, and printed vintage tees his off-duty uniform.

Position: Shooting guard
Style claim to fame: With an unusual ability to pull off pastels, man purses, natty suits, and throwback flip-up sunglasses, the Miami Heat champ is a true modern gentleman. Just last week at this year’s CFDA Fashion Awards, he rewrote the rules on tuxedos altogether, rocking a kimono-style blazer and cropped pants as he attended the ceremony with his good friends Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne of Public School. It was a fashion risk he executed as flawlessly as sinking a perfect three-point shot.

Position: Shooting guard and point guard
Style claim to fame: The only NBA player daring enough to get his hair braided in the midst of a full-on game, Iverson is clearly serious about his look. Defying the NBA’s strict dress code, Iverson imbued the swag of hip-hop into his uniform, making oversize Pelle Pelle sweats, glittering chains, sweatbands and backwards caps, and plenty of tattoos his calling card. The rule-breaking look influenced plenty of his fellow players and solidified his bad boy rep in the league, which may or may not have cracked down on other players’ clothing because of him.

Position: Center
Style claim to fame: Often touted as one of the best players the league has ever seen and its biggest lothario, Chamberlain certainly had the larger-than-life style to back it up. During his heyday, “Wilt the Stilt” was known to don slinky blouses (half-buttoned, of course) and form-fitting flared pants that showed off his never-ending frame and perhaps attracted the alleged 20,000 women he claimed he slept with over the course of his career.

Position: Point guard
Style claim to fame: As an NBA player who made it onto the mood board of Vogue editors, Walt “Clyde” Frazier brought a singular sense of style to the game. Cloaking himself in embroidered capes and cocking sleek Borsalinos to the side, Frazier’s polished élan made him the league’s first fashion icon, and the first to land a shoe endorsement—his Puma Clyde came in suede, of course. Perhaps the shoe’s success helped him snag the famous Rolls Royce he always drove?
