Denim cutoffs—usually my most reliable summer staple, just don’t do it for me anymore. Honestly, they just feel kind of tired and basic. To fix this problem, I invested in something even more basic: basketball shorts. Not only are they breathable, but they are the perfect combination of sleek and street, not to mention they are essentially just an abbreviated version of my deeply beloved track pants.

My older brother, a dangerous-sport enthusiast, customized a Fox motocross jersey for me with Arden on the back and Party on the sleeve—it’s the perfect summer-weight fabric to hide my hot sweats all season long—plus makes me feel suuuuuper brave and nimble in important meetings.

Military cargo shorts that I picked up at a vintage store early in the summer and have since worn to bits. They’re soft and comfortable and high-waisted with giant pockets (for dog-walking necessities) and with a little T-shirt, sort of the perfect farmers’ market weekend morning uniform.

I like to wear brown-color Carhartt pants that I cut off a few inches above the ankle. In the summer, I have a “no dry clean” policy. Carhartt pants get better with every wash and with the summer we’ve been having, they get washed at least three times per week.
