I want to go to my favorite Italian restaurant, Celeste on the Upper West Side, with my favorite (and only) boyfriend in a bathrobe and eat the fattest plate of clams and linguini in the world.

We re always in need of beach towels chez moi, so I figured Valentine s Day would be the perfect excuse to finally indulge in Love Navy s Serge and Jane (of "J taime" fame) double towel that I ve had my eye on. Then I logged on to their site and discovered the brand s Moss the Boss number, and now my heart is torn between two towels and three lovers.

This time of year—brutal arctic gusts at every turn, a daily sodden drudge through permanent-seeming sludgy, slippy sidewalks, impending Fashion Week(s), a sudden overwhelming desire to move to California (nowhere specific, just “California,” at this point, because doesn’t California sound about right?)—I think “treating yourself” should be taken very literally. (Fake it till you make it, and all that; "it” being happiness or at least a general sense of well-being.) And I am taking it to mean indulging in elaborate, luxurious beauty products and at least one spa treatment at the Greenwich hotel’s Shibui spa (likely the Samunprai Thai Poultice, which aims to "release blocked energy"), where I hope they can knead and stretch and steam the seasonal dread right out of me. As for the products: Vogue.com’s own resident beauty expert Catherine Piercy once pointed me towards Christophe Robin’s decadent salt shampoo (a purifying scrub I now can’t get enough of) and La Prairie’s skin-saving three-minute peel. I’ve never looked back.

This year I’m booking a few girls getaways: Surfing in Nicaragua with my high school friends, going to the Lightning Fields with my college roommate, horseback riding in Montana with my sister—and of course I’ll need a few wardrobe updates for heading West. I’ve got my eye on The Row’s long tunics, Vera Wang’s floral chiffon pieces, and Saint Laurent’s bohemian patchwork dresses.

I would treat myself to Cartier-Bresson’s Photoportraits. He’s a favorite photographer of mine and anything from Peter Harrington’s bookshop in London is special. There is something almost oddly decadent about a first-edition book.
