Football Season’s in Fashion: Beyoncé, Milan Fashion Week, and the Sports Jersey’s Most Stylish Moments

The borrowed-from-the-stadium look makes its way from the concert stage to the runway at Milan Fashion Week.

It’s football season in the U.S., and sport’s influence in fashion isn’t going to be sidelined anytime soon. Not only does Beyoncé endorse the style, but at Milan Fashion Week today, Stella Jean offered further proof that the look is here to stay when she chicly paired athletic jerseys with gorgeous printed skirts. Funnily enough it was the serious-minded, medical student turned designer Geoffrey Beene who kicked off the trend, offering a sequined football jersey as a winning evening look in 1977.
