Here is a phrase you don’t usually hear between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day: Keep it simple. It makes perfect sense, however, that in a time when shopping, wrapping, racing around, and overindulging in just about everything prevails, a little levelheadedness finds a way to rise above the madness. Where is the easiest way to incorporate this, you ask. Why, by streamlining your wardrobe, of course. So, while we all love those wild, off-the-runway shots of Anna Dello Russo or Giovanna Battaglia running errands and boarding planes in towering heels, mixed prints, and contrasting textures (how do they do it?), there is also something to be said about going back to the basics this time of year by packing a multitude of variations on the simple men’s shirt, a great piece of everyday jewelry (think watch), chic sweaters, and the perfect pair of jeans. Need a visual? Think Emmanuelle Alt. Not only does this simplified approach free up space in your suitcase, it also frees up your mind—and who doesn’t need that? So, with this in mind, we selected some supersimple, superchic basic pieces that will make any woman look (and feel) like she has finally got it all together this holiday season. The best part? These pieces will work all year round.
If you have favorite basics, please send them to us via Facebook and Twitter, and we can add to our list next week—it’s how we keep it social.
