During the fall collections (that is, the clothes on sale now), Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders paired novelty knits with tailored skirts and, by playing with patterns and textures, put forth a look that was conservative without sacrificing a sense of cool (this look is not for the traditional lady who lunches). They also made us wonder if we would ever do something so predictable as pairing a sweater with jeans again. The look is smart, feels new, and—as evidenced by Vanessa Traina on A Love Is Blind—is a very feminine way of looking very grown-up. Cool, right? Even better, it can probably be cobbled together from things you already have in your closet, but, if not, here are some of our best stocking-up suggestions because it’s not too late to have a perfectly turned out fall.
