Ursina Gysi Might Be the Most Legit Street Style Star Around Inline

Before the Alpha Industries bomber jacket was worn by virtually everyone and their mother and even hinted at on the Prada runway (where some hoods were lined in orange mink), Gysi was repping hers loud and proud. She artfully matched the orange lining of the olive drab–hued number with the orange spots woven into her knit sweater. An added bonus? That sliver of midriff, thanks to a crinkly pair of low-slung metallic trousers.

Before the naughties received a full-on reboot and went into a Juicy Couture velour track pant relapse, Gysi was already making the case for the early ’00s staple. Her version was far from Paris Hilton cheeky—instead, Gysi wore more of an elevated pair of university-type sweatpants that she paired with an off-the-shoulder mohair sweater. A smart look, indeed.

Been seeing a lot of logomania lately? We bet you have: It’s another one of those naughties offspring pieces that has taken the streets by storm. And sometimes, it seems like it is a little bit of an in-joke via throwback statement staples. But for Gysi? She just wears her Gucci monogrammed Speedy with a natural ease paired with her leather Shaft-like trench and navy blue hoodie.

The hoodie and slip dress pairing à la Vetements was probably one of the most difficult trends to pull off from Spring 2016, but Gysi became the poster child for the look. Instead of plucking the pieces fresh from the runway, she made her own mash-up: a carrot blazed slip dress topped off with a cropped blue hoodie.

The topper of all middle school students and ’90s hip-hop heroes is back—the puffer jacket. Aside from being a ubiquitous layer of warmth on the streets of New York, it was also on the runway in deconstructed comforter forms at Alexander McQueen, fat pillowed shapes at Marques ‘ Almeida, and hip-hitting hot pink shades at Isa Arfen. But who really gloriously swung their arms with pride in the down-stuffed piece? It was Gysi, as seen on the streets in Paris in Spring 2016, putting the cool-teen vibe back into the look, thanks to a green baseball cap. It’s the simple things in life, after all.
