Ahead of the Oscars, Vogue100 Hosted a Masterclass in Red Carpet Dressing with Peter Dundas

“I’ve been very fortunate to dress a lot of people–Beyoncé, Ciara, and Kim Kardashian—for both stage and red carpet,” Dundas smiled. “This type of design work brings me back to the early days in my career when I was studying costume design at Parsons.”

Bringing the conversation to life, iconic Dundas looks from the past decade were on display: The yellow gown worn by Beyoncé in her “Lemonade” music video, Emily Ratajkowski’s angelic ensemble from the 2019 Met Gala, and the haute couture football jersey dress worn by Ciara to the Camp-themed Met Gala back in 2019,

The intimate soirée took place in a gorgeous penthouse at the Pendry Residences on Sunset Boulevard. The two-bedroom property is decorated by acclaimed interior designer Martin Brudnizki and showcases sprawling views of downtown Los Angeles, a picture-perfect backdrop to the afternoon affair. At the door, guests were greeted with craft cocktails created by Heidi Wittekind for Kastra Elion.

As for his Oscars red carpet predictions, Dundas is leaning toward celebrating the old instead of the new. “I appreciate that we are seeing a lot more archive looks on the red carpet,” Dundas explained. “Even though these events are a platform to bring out all the glamour, it’s important to be mindful.”
