An Inside Look at How Minari’s Yeri Han Got Ready for the Oscars

Last night at the 2021 Oscars, the cast of the tender family drama Minari celebrated nominations for six major awards, including Best Picture. For the big night, star Yeri Han flew overseas from South Korea to Los Angeles to attend the ceremony. "I’m so happy to see everyone!" Han said last night of reuniting with Minari s ensemble. "It’s been a long time and it’s wonderful that the Minari team is invited to such a big event. Even if we don’t hear much good news today, just the fact that our Minari team is here to gather makes me so happy."

While supporting Minari, Han was a beacon of understated glamour. Hitting the red carpet alongside co-stars Steven Yeun and Yuh-Jung Youn ("I was blown away by her beauty!" says Han of her co-star), Han wore a striking crimson Louis Vuitton gown featuring golden sunburst detailing; a look that put her among the best dressed of the night.

Of course, Han needed a striking beauty look to match, the occasion ultimately calling for a twisted chignon worn with glassy skin, a ruby smoky eye, and a fresh red lip. While Han s polished updo, crafted by hairstylist Derek Yuen, was meant to complement her gown s sleek high neckline, her makeup was designed to play up the color palette. To create the lip, makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua wanted to give it a more "modern feel" with an ombré, two-toned effect. "Yeri has an understated creative fire that is expressed through her look," says Bua of collaborating with the actress. Yeun echoes this sentiment. "Yeri has been so kind, generous, and has such a radiant energy," he explains. "I was already such a big fan of the movie Minari and jumped at the chance to work with her.
