During last year’s New York Fashion Week, Rico Nasty provided the Gyspy Sport show with an unforgettable finale: The New York native, wearing safety-pinned jeans and a slinky chainmail bra, walked the runway with a lit joint nestled between her fingers.
That was a hard act to follow, but Rico’s NYFW this time proved even more show-stopping. She made appearances at some of the week’s most exciting shows, including Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty showcase and Pyer Moss’s theatrical production at Flatbush’s Kings Theatre. She wasn’t just a spectator, though—at the very end of Chromat’s 10-year anniversary show, Rico came out onto the runway decked out in one of the brand’s 3D-printed cherry red cage skirts and performed her song “Poppin” to much fanfare. Judging by her vibrant wardrobe that she showed off this week, which included a full Marine Serre look (face mask included) and a hot pink latex trench coat, she really did her song justice: “Always in some new shit so these hoes lookin’.” How could you not?
