Last Week, Stars Went for Glitz and Glamour

Shininess was at a premium last week, at least for the world’s most stylish. No little black dress was complete without bejeweled embellishment. Consider Emilia Clarke’s ruffled Prada party frock at the premiere of Last Christmas or Zendaya’s belly-baring Christopher Esber look for the People’s Choice Awards. And then there was Valerie Pachner’s bejeweled gown by J W Anderson: confident, glitzy, and cool.
Elsewhere, metallic shimmer from head to toe ruled the carpet. Ever the risk-taker, Kasey Musgraves gave the CMAs a fashion moment in canary yellow, marabou feathered Valentino. In Thom Browne’s deconstructed power suit, Karolina Kurkova clashed silver and gold to great effect. For Celine Dion the world is a runway, and in pleated silver lame Rodarte, complete with an Elizabethan ruff, she delivered the most dramatic of the seven show-stopping looks from her 2-day New York jaunt.
Of course, there’s always more than one way to shine. In black and white polka dots at the Latin Grammys, Rosalía showcased the power of a graphic print. Her sassy, trained dress by Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera enabled the rising star to make a spectacular entrance.
