It’s almost the Fourth of July, and with the long holiday weekend comes a perfect opportunity to drink ever so slightly too much at a barbecue, get maxed out on interpersonal interaction, and retire to your room to watch a whole bunch of TV and/or movies. Luckily, there’s no shortage of onscreen fare to distract yourself with this Independence Day; below, find a roundup of everything you should be watching—from a brand-new documentary digging into the feminist legacy of Ms. magazine to an annual hot-dog eating contest on Coney Island that’s as American as, well…getting apple pie after too many hot dogs?

Tour de France: Unchained (Netflix)

The third (and, sadly, final) season of this always-gripping deep dive into the world of men’s professional cycling is out now on Netflix, and while even eight 40-minute episodes can’t quite do justice to the staggering feat that was the Tour de France 2024, it’s fun to revisit Tadej Pogačar’s victory and take in the majestic views of French hillsides.

Dear Ms.: A Revolution in Print (Max)

This powerful new documentary from HBO tells the story of the iconic feminist magazine Ms. from its earliest days to its most change-making moments, with appearances from legendary activists including Gloria Steinem (who co-founded the publication in 1971), Patricia Carbine, Letty Cottin Pogrebin, Marcia Ann Gillespie, Lindsay Van Gelder, and Suzanne Braun Levine.

Sinners (Max)

Ryan Coogler’s fifth (and arguably most ambitious) feature film is finally streaming on Max this Friday. Given it’s the highest-grossing horror movie of the year thus far, this would definitely be a good time to catch up before the Oscars gossip inevitably commences.

Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest (ESPN)

Is there anything more American than gathering on Coney Island (or virtually, if you’re far away) to watch people eat far more hot dogs than can strictly be good for them? Sixteen-time champion Joey Chestnut returns to this year’s competition after being banned in 2024, but as of now, the contest—which is held annually on July 4—is still anyone’s game.

The Ultimatum: Queer Love, Season 2 (Netflix)

I didn’t things could possibly get messier on the second season of The Ultimatum: Queer Love than they were Season 1, but I’m unashamed to say that I stand corrected! The back half of the season dropped on Netflix on July 2, which makes the long weekend as good a time as any to fire it up. Personally, I will be eager to find out who my #1 contestant of interest (Magan, closely followed by Britney) ends up with.
