We’re now less than three weeks away from the 2024 presidential election, and if the stress is beginning to get to you, worry not; we’ve rounded up a whole new crop of movies and TV shows to comfort-stream this weekend in between phone0banking and anxiously checking the latest polls. Below, find a guide to keeping yourself entertained from Friday to Sunday:
Anatomy of Lies
This Peacock docuseries following the life (and myriad lies) of former Grey’s Anatomy writer Elisabeth Finch—who falsely claimed to everyone, including her wife, that she had cancer, among a host of other untruths—came out this week, and it’s already generating a ton of social media intrigue. If you haven’t yet, sit down with the whole three-part series this weekend and marvel at just how ridiculously sociopathic people can be.
How to watch: Stream on Peacock.
Saturday Night Live, with host Michael Keaton and musical guest Billie Eilish
Keaton has hosted Saturday Night Live three times before (including his debut appearance in 1982, which begs the question…how does this 73-year-old man look so ridiculously good? Drop the skincare routine, Mike!), and funnily enough, this will also be Eilish’s fourth appearance on the late-night variety show. We know that Eilish doesn’t want to talk about her personal life anymore, but let’s just say that at least one very gay sketch featuring the pop star would be most welcome.
How to watch: Catch the show live on NBC starting at 11:30 p.m., or stream it on Peacock the next day.
Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara
As hard as it may be to imagine a celebrity falling victim to identity-theft, that’s exactly what happened to Tegan Quin, one of the members of Canadian indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara, when someone started impersonating her in order to swindle fans. This new Hulu documentary from filmmaker Erin Lee Carr tells the whole story in intimate detail, delving deep into one of the less-than-ideal possible outcomes of international reknown.

MaXXXine
Mia Goth stars in this enchantingly soapy horror film from Ti West about a 1980s-era adult film star who is drawn into a serial killer’s path while attempting to break through as a mainstream scary-movie actress. With the weather cooling, there has never been a better time to grab a warm beverage and allow yourself to feel seasonally terrified.

Louder: The Soundtrack of Change
Calling all riot grrrls, as well as their punk predecessors: This Max documentary on the history of female performers and activists in music features everyone from singers Melissa Etheridge, Mickey Guyton, and Selena Gomez to former Georgia Rep. Stacey Abrams (who co-produced the film along with Gomez) and music journalist Suzy Exposito. It’s guaranteed to inspire some nostalgic weekend grooving.
