If there’s one thing a hyperpop princess loves, it’s a pop culture reference. Addison Rae is no different; she regularly draws inspiration from icons like Madonna and Marilyn Monroe while experimenting with both fashion and beauty. “Monroe is always a makeup inspo,” Rae previously told Vogue, while also praising Madonna’s makeup from her Erotica era. Rae has a penchant for red lipstick—Lisa Eldridge’s Velvet Enchantment to be exact—and dabs it on her lips as soon as she wakes up, before blending the same product on her cheeks for a natural flush.
But for her latest beauty coup, a beachy floral mani for Coachella, was something different. Pulling inspiration from a much more recent pop culture moment: specifically, Lindsay Lohan’s infamous nail art for a court appearance back in 2010. Lohan was in court for violating the terms of her probation following a 2007 drinking and driving charge and had the words “f**k you” stenciled onto the nail of her middle finger.
Rae swerved the profanity in favour of a different message, “June 6”, which is the release date for her forthcoming album, Addison.

The work of celebrity manicurist Natalie Minerva, using OPI shades Flex On The Beach, Stay Out All Bright, It’s A Boy, and Makeout-Side, all layered on “for a more subtle version of the leopard print [tie-dye] Lilo court nails,” the nail artist shared on Instagram.
Rae and Minerva have worked together on countless manicures. “Sometimes we’ll go for a fun and colourful look, like a bright yellow or hot pink on short natural nails, while other times we’ve chosen a deep dark cherry red on longer extensions, or super art-centric 3-D nails,” shares Minerva. “We even once used the same exact color and shape as Britney Spears, who is also a client of mine.”
