This morning, George Clooney and Amal Clooney touched down in Venice in style. The power couple is presumably in town for the upcoming Venice Film Festival, and Diane von Furstenberg’s annual DVF Awards, where Amal will be honored. As always, the couple dressed in complementary neutral ensembles, this time in navy and white. But it was Amal’s unexpected shoe choice that has us intrigued.
Amal punctuated her floral-printed shift dress with a pair of pointy sheer slingback heels from Roger Vivier. Yes, a see-through shoe. Transparent heels have been all the rage as of late, with Khaite and Alaïa’s mesh flats being other celebrity favorites this summer. But leave it to Clooney, a noted pump lover, to do the trend in a sophisticated way. They’re also sheer, but not too sheer—you don’t have to have an immaculate pedicure to rock them. Her small, structured 16Arlington top-handle bag and huge sunnies also gave the look a sleek finish. But are we surprised? When it comes to Amal, every outfit is always accessorized to perfection.
