For many, Thursday is—usually—Art Basel Miami’s night of sin. Yesterday lived up to its reputation. Stop one was Jeremy Scott’s blowout for Moschino, held at the Delano (which is now owned by SBE; Morgans Hotel Group is no more). He took over the famed property’s expansive backyard and pool areas, and, in typical Scott form, packed them to the gills with the week’s most outré scenesters.
“I’m always so, like, shocked by the swampiness of Miami,” said the designer, wearing an embellished tuxedo—no undershirt. He admitted to being a bit warm. Today, he’s launching a Ken doll—the first Ken doll made by a fashion creative, as it happens—donning a similar silhouette.
As the drizzle settled in, singer Jhené Aiko took to the stage for a set, as the likes of Courtney Love, Russell Simmons, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Adwoa Aboah, Kehinde Wiley, and more cheered her on.
Next up: “It’s your boy, Gucci!” shouted rapper Gucci Mane to the crowd at Wall, the nightclub in the W Hotel that, also traditionally, hosts a bacchanal put on by Dom Pérignon and hosted by Aby Rosen and Vito Schnabel. There’s a lot of money at Art Basel—but Gucci Mane outshone even the flashiest, wearing no less than what can only be quantified as an insane amount of diamonds. Paris Hilton would then hit the DJ booth to take some selfies as the crowd danced into the dawn.
