“I just go for it!” says Barbie Ferreira of her relaxed approach to jeans shopping. “Online, you can just do a little filter option: Boop! Boop! Boop! Boop!” The 21-year-old model and native New Yorker wears denim once a day—jeans with a fluttery floral top or track jacket, say, or often, the Canadian tuxedo that’s everywhere of late (courtesy of Calvin Klein).
But Ferreira is no bandwagon jumper. “Denim on denim was my go-to look for most of my high school years,” she says. “It was like this whole mess of denim: always a light-wash mom jean, some sort of crop top, then a denim shirt, then a denim jacket that I still own and wear very frequently, then a denim backpack, and that was just my every day.” The grown-up version, seen here, requires two key pieces: a long wide-leg jean and a denim button-down, unbuttoned just so. Add cowboy boots and giddyap.
