Sleek space buns were paired with virtual reality shades which moonlighted as an accessory, but the real standout moment? Hadid s blonde transformation, which she made official with a new alter-ego—and a new Instagram account.
The model stepped out on Saturday in a blonde wig, ends bent gently inward at the collarbone, her gaze framed by serrated brow-dusting bangs. But according to the caption, the photo was an introduction to her fair-haired doppelganger, code name: Rebekka Harajuku. Before the weekend s end, Harajuku had an Instagram page all her own, documenting her adventures through the city s neighborhoods; in frame after frame, Hadid s fictional counterpart wore her trompe l oeil strawberry blonde mane with a swipe of rose lipstick, oblong sunglasses, and a flawless complexion.
When (and if!) Hadid returns stateside remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: those lightened-up lengths—not to mention Hadid s blondes-have-more-fun attitude—may warrant a permanent commitment.
