Milan Fashion Week begins today, and as a sort of celebration, it seems that Bella Hadid is continuing her unending visual homage to icon and happenstance Italian-French twin: Carla Bruni. Yesterday on a Milanese balcony, the super debuted a mane of pin-straight brunette that swung several extra inches past the culmination point of her abbreviated chop, the setting infinitely apropos for a let-down-her-hair moment. With one side parted deeply and the other tucked neatly behind the ear, the shift was a sleek and glamorous one—par for the course for a Hadid—a feel matched by a backless gilded dress and a heavy aura of attitudinal opulence, though the clip did end in a genuine grin.
Whether worn for a show or a shoot, Hadid s lengths, and the confidence with which she carried them off, immediately elicited visions of veteran Bruni. Though, for her part, Hadid s referential moments are always finished with some of her own trademarks: bronzed glowing skin and a nude lip in this case. Just add piece-y ironed ends worthy of an early-aughts music video (another of the model s favored above-neck references) and you re ready to say ciao to Milan in Bella-nese guise.
