Jesus Guerrero—the celebrity hairstylist known for his work with Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Jenner, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Kali Uchis, Charli XCX, Rosalía, and more—has died, according to his family. Guerrero was 34.
The news of Guerrero’s death comes as members of the Hollywood beauty community continue to grieve the loss of Graham Nation—hairstylist to Demi Moore, Emma Chamberlain, and Catherine O’Hara, among others—who died in Los Angeles on Friday, February 14, at age 39.
Born and raised in Houston to immigrant parents, Guerrero became a Los Angeles fixture, known for what fellow celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin described on Instagram as his “ability to make the whole room feel the warmth of his presence and giggle at his playful antics—all while casually creating hair ART.”
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Nation was another key member of the beauty scene, along with his partner, makeup artist Tonya Brewer, with whom he shared a young son. “Graham was a one-of-a-kind soul who impacted every single person he met,” Nation’s agency the Wall Group shared in a statement. “We are honored to have been part of his journey and to have helped him share his artistry with the world. Our hearts are broken and we will miss him dearly.”
Below, find a roundup of some of Guerrero’ and Nation’s best recent work.
Marissa Bode’s curly updo at the 40th Annual Artios Awards, February 2025
If you were wondering about the behind-the-scenes beauty secrets that left Wicked actor Bode looking so beautifully Botticellian at this year’s Artios Awards, look no further than Nation, who posted an image of his work with Bode to Instagram just a day before his death.
Jennifer Lopez’s Maid in Manhattan–evoking half-up, half-down ponytail, January 2025
Some of Guerrero’s most recent and exciting work with frequent client Lopez took place just last month, with Vogue’s Anna Cafolla describing Lopez’s look at the Variety Creative Impact Awards in Palm Springs as “a sleek, half-up, half-down style that recalled Old Hollywood glam.” (It also just so happened to reference a hairstyle Lopez wore in the classic 2002 rom-com Maid in Manhattan.)
Katy Perry at the MTV VMAs, September 2024
Guerreo gave Perry’s long raven tresses a slick wet look for her appearance at the MTV VMAs last fall, when she was honored with the Video Vanguard Award.
Meghann Fahy at Carolina Herrera Resort 2025, November 2024
At the Mexico City bash following Carolina Herrera’s resort 2025 show, the White Lotus and Perfect Couple star was picture-perfect in Nation’s beachy tresses.
Kylie Jenner’s British Vogue cover, September 2024
A trusted member of Jenner’s glam team for years, Guerrero was the man behind the artfully tousled locks in her first British Vogue cover shoot, as well as the bombshell waves she wore to the 2024 Academy Museum Gala and 2025 Golden Globes.
Maddie Ziegler’s piece-y pony at SXSW, March 2023
Nation posted a selection of his work with Ziegler to Instagram to commemorate the SXSW release of her film Bloody Hell in 2023, writing: “So proud of you, Maddie!!” (Brewer is Ziegler’s longtime makeup artist.)
Rosalía’s appearance at her second Met Gala, May 2022
Rosalía’s custom Givenchy look at the 2022 Met Gala—which Vogue’s Sarah Spellings described at the time as a “heavily structured corset, cascade of ruffles and embellishment, and off-the-shoulder sleeves with plenty of volume”—was expertly set off by her low-maintenance makeup and hair: a slicked-back and center-parted bun. “Best glammm team,” Rosalía wrote of Guerrero and Ariel Tejada in her getting-ready diary for Vogue.
Venus Williams’s blunt bob with bangs, March 2022
Williams attended Givenchy’s fall 2022 show in Paris with a brand-new, attention-grabbing haircut, styled for her by Nation, which likely left more than one person she encountered wondering if they should get bangs too.
Demi Moore’s stick-straight ’do, March 2022
Even before Moore’s current press tour for The Substance made her signature waist-length hairstyle a fixture on the red carpet, her lengthly locks were being lovingly cared for and styled by Nation. Moore’s appearance at Saint Laurent’s fall 2022 show was particularly notable for her hair’s sheen (which I would most definitely take the Substance in order to obtain).
Jessica Alba’s pearl headband and collarbone-length cut, November 2019
Fans of Guerrero’s work likely won’t be surprised to learn that he was the mastermind behind Alba’s pearl headband and blown-out lob look at 2019’s Baby2Baby gala in Los Angeles. The hairstyle was quintessentially Guerrero—elegant and feminine yet insouciant enough to draw a second look (and warrant plenty of beauty coverage). On Sunday, Alba reposted an Instagram Story of her, Guerrero, and makeup artist Daniel Martin posing for a selfie, accompanied by the caption “We love you @jesushair.”
