Talk in the Vogue office is turning to fall investment pieces, but out there in the celeb hemisphere, the A-list is still taking style notes from a Miu Miu collection that decreed it’s chic to employ colorful blister plasters as a beauty device. Oh the throes of summer, when anything goes! Also central to Mrs Prada’s preppy, sporty, underpants-baring edit were handkerchief tops—not the silk scarf types knotted as beach bandeaus, but block-coloured leather versions teamed with low-slung pleated skirts and serious belts.

The Miu Miu style directive means that the boho 2.0 top can be appropriated for autumn. Note the mustard color of the hero piece that has been worn by both Gigi Hadid and Kim Kardashian in quick succession. The Colman’s shade sits comfortably within the same Pantone family as the rich burgundies that the pumpkin-spiced season deems absolutely essential. The layering of the looks—with granny knickers and messy bags stuffed with extra layers—also suggests this is a city woman, not someone Greek island hopping.

In the wild, Hadid stayed true to the eclectic runway styling and piled on both charm jewelry and handbag charms, while Kardashian leaned into the free spirit of the top style with her own Calabasas twist: namely, skin-tight suede flares and a matching suede Birkin. But the paps chose not to zero in on Kim’s haute hanky. Rather, the diminutive pooch, named Sushi, under her arm.

Sceptics might say Sushi—who is happily the same butterscotch hue as her Hermès—had merely been employed for the tonal photo opp, but on the same day as Vogue published Dogue, an ode to fashion’s favorite dogs, Kim knows that canines could well be the scene-stealing accessory of the transitional season. Perhaps, at the end of this winding piece, the real takeaway is that pets are far more dopamine-inducing than wrestling oneself into a bandeau for the sake of a nostalgia trip. Pets over trends!
