These days, being a Hollywood hunk is not enough: You also have to have a cool, modern approach to red carpet style to stand out.
The Heated Rivalry boys—Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams—are prime examples of this: They may have burst onto the scene thanks to their hit queer hockey show, but their sleek outfits have cemented their staying power. The key to looking the part of an A-lister? It’s all about embracing subtle updates on classic menswear tailoring—right down to interesting styling of formal pieces like blazers and cummerbunds. Or, ties. There has, in fact, been a real bevy of Hollywood hunks who are rethinking the tie lately.
Call it the stealthy tie-tuck: Stars have been discretely tucking their ties into their shirts, in a way that makes it seem like there is hardly a tie there at all. It’s a styling move that recently appeared on the spring 2026 Saint Laurent runway show, from designer Anthony Vaccarello.
Celebrities like Manu Rios, Tom Blythe, and Finn Bennett have all embraced the saucy move—a styling trick that instantly injects their tailored shirts and jackets with a sense of fun. The half-in, half-out tie makes for a more irreverent approach to buttoned-up dressing. It is sort of reminiscent of when young teens at private schools rework their school uniforms to reflect their individuality. The looks still feel smart—but a bit rebellious, and without bending the rules so much that you’ll land yourself in detention.
Or, you can also take inspiration from stars like Bad Bunny and Steve Lacy, and consider layering a knitted tank over your shirt and tie—with the tie layered under the tank. Again, there is just a hint of a necktie here. The suggestion of polish. By forgoing a more rigid blazer, the shirt-and-tie feels decidedly more casual when paired with such a low-cut tank; it is sleek in a way that also feels effortless and more nonchalant. Like, “Oh, this little tie? Just threw it on!”
And, sure, this is not a totally genius and spontaneous styling move on all of these men’s parts. They are simply all wearing Saint Laurent directly from the runway, courtesy of their stylists. But it is the spirit of unconventionality here that other Hollywood gents should consider replicating going forward. Maybe next, they start wearing mismatched loafers… or they wear a dress shirt featuring one sleeve longer than the other. Be creative! Think wild.
Because, for too long now, menswear on the red carpet has been a sea of stuffy suits and conservative tuxedos—and if the trending tie tuck encourages one thing, it’s just thinking a bit more outside of the box this season. More of that in 2026, please!
