The first jeans that Camilla Deterre ever wore were a pair of tiny Levi’s at age 2, and it’s safe to say she never looked back. The downtown model and interior designer lives in vintage button-fly Levi’s, worn almost daily with a plain tank top and some simple shirt. “I usually just put them on off the floor, then put on a tank top and an open shirt or hoodie,” she says. “I guess that’s the good thing about classic jeans is that you can kind of do it without thinking.”
Deterre scours New York’s vintage stores, as well as Etsy and eBay, for the perfect worn-in 501s. “A good trick is to take the leg of a jean and flip it up, and if it’s the same width as the thigh, you know it’s a very straight-cut pant,” she says. Too lazy for all that legwork? The faded gray rinse on these Frame jeans will do the trick.
