Sunset Boulevard has played a major role in the fantasy and allure that has drawn countless young and creative hopefuls to Los Angeles for decades, and last night that same boulevard played host to the 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists. On the eve of the final presentation at the Chateau Marmont, Vogue’s Sally Singer and Instagram’s Eva Chen welcomed the designers with an intimate celebration on the rooftop of NeueHouse Hollywood.
West Coast–based finalists Maryam and Marjan Malakpour of Newbark, and Chris Stamp of Stampd were obviously completely at home in the SoCal setting alongside fellow Angelenos and one-time Fashion Fund finalists Greg Chait, Irene Neuwirth, and Juan Carlos Obando, whereas New York finalists, including Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk of Area, and Adam Selman, were still taking in the sprawl of the cinematic city. And while their time out West may be short, we’re almost certain the siren call of L.A. won’t keep these designers away for very long.
