Chanel Iman’s closet is a denim head’s paradise, as the model has lovingly curated a massive collection over the years. Five white shelves contain stacks of every imaginable style from dark-wash Tom Fords to pale vintage Levi’s; there’s a denim Valentino bag and denim heels from Gianvito Rossi, as well. “The worst kind of jean are jeans with no pockets in the back,” she says. “Right now, I’m into the stretchy elastic jeans, as you see, because I have a baby bump here!” she adds, smiling. “So comfort is key for me at the moment.”
Thankfully, the market for chic maternity pants has expanded somewhat—take the sleek black J Brand jeans on Iman, above, which have invisible elastic panels tucked into each side. “It’s been difficult for me to find the right jean—the ones I have on now are so comfortable that they almost feel like your second skin,” she says. Iman also gets her denim fix through roomy jackets—and by imagining her child’s future wardrobe. “I remember my mom buying jean fabric and making me cute dresses,” she says. “I can’t wait to make some clothes for my little one, one day.” Good jeans do run in the family.
