Once upon a time, a wedding registry was a practical way for young couples starting from scratch to build out a roster of homeware essentials—first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the Le Creuset pot, if you will. Nowadays, the tradition is rooted less in utility (a 2026 bride probably has her own pots, thank you very much; or if not, a loyal DoorDash subscription) and more in thoughtfulness. You might use a registry to buy the couple a sweet monogrammed trinket, chip in to an investment piece they’d never splurge on themselves, or gift an experience whose memory they can cherish for years to come.
That’s not to say that the process of creating a registry has become any less overwhelming. If you’re struggling on where to start, we asked for some inspiration from some of the chicest brides-to-be we know—and between the colorful entertaining essentials, the hobbyist equipment, and the travel-inspired picks, the one thing these wish lists have in common is how perfectly personal they are. As it turns out, a modern wedding registry can be anything you want it to be, really.
Vogue’s Favorite Registry Gifts:
Ahead, we spoke to nine soon-to-be-married stylish women about the surprising (and the timeless) items they have on their own wedding registries.
The Entertaining Essentials
“My fiancé and I just bought a home in the Berkshires, and we’re so excited to host dinner parties with fun, beautiful tablescapes—so our registry is very much centered around that. I love everything from Cabana, so I’ve added a lot of pieces from their Ginori 1735 collaboration. Some of my favorite things in my kitchen in New York are my Radicchio salt and pepper shakers from Porta. I’ll be adding to my collection with their Radicchio serving bowl and Artichoke plate. LaDoubleJ dresses are a staple in my closet (their prints are unlike anything else), and their homeware is equally beautiful, so I’ve added two vases to my registry. I’m obsessed with nitro cold brew, so I’ve also been eyeing the Cumulus Cold Coffee Machine. It’s on my registry unless I buy it myself beforehand. I might not be able to wait.” —Tiffany Lopinsky, co-founder of ShopMy
The Travel-Inspired Pieces
“I think it’s a wonderful idea to ask guests to contribute to a special experience, such as a honeymoon trip to Japan... I could imagine bringing special gifts back for everyone and writing them postcards. Instead of just asking for cash, I think the chicest way to do this would be to ask guests to contribute a specific activity. I once took an Ikebana class in New York and fell in love, so I would love to take an Ikebana class in Japan. I would also love to take an etiquette class and do something food related, such as making tofu from scratch or a Shochu tasting.
For inspiration, I’ve bought some fantastic Japanese products from Gardenheir (while it’s not necessarily wedding-related, I do love this Japanese fruit knife!). Boston General Store also has a wonderful stationery set from Kakimori.” —Jenny Walton, artist and author
The Future Heirlooms
“My fiancé and I have been together for seven years and are quite established in our home, so a registry for us is less about the essentials and more about how to bring us into this next chapter with integrity to foster more celebration! He’s an artist and I’m a chef, so our home has always been an art collection. So much of our home is composed of heirlooms from our families; our registry is inspired by our ancestors and what we hope to preserve and pass on. A porcelain dining set is a given for a wedding, but as a chef (with a fiancé who’s very comfortable in the kitchen) we have no shortage of dishes. The Ginori 1735 Diva collection is pastel with a gold trim; it’s simple yet glamorous. I can imagine us having Saturday pancake service or a beautiful Sunday dinner on the plates with guests! On the note of traditions, silverware brings prosperity, and this gothic romantic cutlery set by Ann Demeulemeester for Serax is stunning. From the same collection, we are adoring these wine glasses (along with the coupe and universal glass in this incredible green tone).
There’s a soundtrack to our relationship in that music is very important to us and our home life. We we could really picture this gold design-forward speaker on display in our living room. The De’Longhi espresso machine is my most favorite espresso machine: I have it at our Brooklyn home but we don’t have it in our Norway home. It makes the mornings more special, giving less of a reason to leave (we like to stay home), and instead host for a special coffee and cake service. We also love cake—so please gift us this iconic knife to cut our cake and make that moment special; maybe even get it engraved.” —Tara Thomas, chef
The Cooking Challengers
“Anyone who knows me and my fiancé knows there’s little we love more than a Gordon Ramsay competitive cooking show, an ambitious dinner recipe, and a sweet treat to top off the night. The kitchen is one of our favorite places, so our wedding registry feels like the perfect opportunity to upgrade the table- and glassware we use every day. I especially love how bright and fun these dishes are from La DoubleJ. And when a ‘serves 4–6’ recipe turns into the perfect excuse to host friends, we love setting the table and sharing the meal. These additions won’t just elevate our everyday dinners—they’ll be part of the gatherings we cherish most. The perfect wedding gift, if you ask me!” —Kasey Busiel, marketing and production manager, Vogue shopping
The Little Luxuries
“I see a wedding as a fun opportunity to ask for things that are naughtily indulgent—I’m too practical to buy them for myself, but I know how much I’ll love using these dainty little cocktail glasses for a glass of champagne or scoop of ice cream. Growing up in the Bay Area, I’ve always loved the look and feel of Heath Ceramics, and since we don’t want any wedding china, this is a great alternative we’ll use for dinner parties and just for casual meals at home. Similarly, East Fork is a brand that has been on our radar for the time when we were ready to trade in our randomly collected flatware for something new. We love the relaxed vibe of the tumbled stainless steel, as well as the simple, sturdy design.
A big area rug is an investment piece for a new couple, and we’ve spent a few years in need of one for our living room. My fiancé loves a thick, soft pile and I am drawn to rich colors and unique details, so this one was an all-in for both of us. I love things that have a personalized touch, so I think a custom cord pillow from Bode that centers on our relationship and interests would be a cute alternative to a photo book. We’re also big into camping, hiking, and backpacking, and while it might not be a conventional gift, it was important to us to include a few items that focused on our love of the outdoors. This ultra-lightweight tent is one that will be part of many future memories.” —Aemelia Madden, fashion writer
The Heritage Cookware
“I have found such joy in curating our wedding registry and preparing for married life! We’ve focused on essential items that will last a lifetime—and we certainly included some fun, non-essentials, too. I’m a firm believer that no registry is complete without foundational items from KitchenAid and Le Creuset. I also love any opportunity for an embroidered wedding monogram, and Weezie has so many luxurious, customizable options.” —Alexandra Ditch, associate producer, Vogue shopping
The Personal Picks
“The jewelry boxes from Sophie Bille Brahe are divine; I love the deep green color as a neutral. You can keep your wedding rings in these beautiful vessels. A piece of fine art painted by a dear friend of mine, Sabrina Bockler, is also on my list—I love Sabrina’s work and love her stylistic choices when it comes to painting. Bedding is such a thoughtful gift for wedding, and I love all the variations on Olatz. Extra points for monogramming the new initials! Finally, Margot from Curio Shop has such an eye for beautiful antiquities. I recently discovered the flower brick at the YADA show and can’t stop thinking about it. I think something vintage that has history is a wonderful gift.” —Patricia Voto, founder of One Of
The Sentimental Nice-to-Haves
“We’re not creating a traditional wedding registry because we’re having a destination wedding and having our family and friends travel to celebrate with us truly means more than anything we could register for. Their presence is our greatest gift. That said, there are a few pieces we’re eyeing for our new home; thoughtful items we’ll use as we begin this next chapter together—including a few bottles of our favorite white wine.” —Angelina Adhel Bol, model
The Scottish Roots
“I’m starting with a dining table by Charles R. Mackintosh, the Scottish architect who inspired my SS26 collection. Then, perhaps a trip to the Fife Arms in Scotland for their art collection and the beautiful inspiring Scottish nature that also always inspire my work. I also love this Jean Michel Franck couch because I’m moving to NY and I love the simple line of his work.” —Philippine Namy, founder of Nami
