When it comes to beauty, Chloe Bailey—who now goes by the mononym Chlöe—likes to look “snatched,” as she puts it. “I have baby cheeks,” explains the 23-year-old singer, who begins her above-the-neck routine with a clean face and a handful of sculpting tools, including a roller, refrigerated undereye patches, and, when she’s on set, cubes of ice. “I really love not overcomplicating my skin-care routine,” she continues before layering on sunscreen and turning her attention to her brows, which she bulks up and fine-tunes with pencils, gels, and precise strokes of concealer.

If Chlöe is minimalist with her complexion lineup, she doesn’t hold back when it comes to color cosmetics. “I was that girl who was always on YouTube watching makeup tutorials,” Chlöe recalls, dipping into her well-stocked travel pouch. “Over the pandemic, I kind of learned how to do my own because we didn’t have makeup artists helping us.” With a visage seemingly airbrushed thanks to Fenty’s blurring tint, she traces a contour stick across her cheekbones, around her jawline, and down the bridge of her nose to further accentuate her angles. A shimmery coral blush from Nars, swept across her face, provides a sun-kissed effect that she amplifies with a generous amount of highlighter. “I kind of go ham,” she says with a smile. “I don’t really care if it looks natural or not, because it’s pretty.”

Meanwhile, a balm, liner, and high-shine gloss trio provides what she calls a “nice, juicy, kissable” finishing touch (onstage, she prefers a matte equation)—but she’s not done until she smooths a dollop of edge-protecting argan oil onto her bleached blonde locks. “I feel like it’s my alter ego in a way,” she muses of her new do, which she debuted on the cover of her latest album, Have Mercy. Plus, she adds, “it brings out my skin.” Consider it just one of the many scene-stealing beauty moves that are sure to come from this pop star in the making.
