Strictly Come Ceilidh: Christopher Kane and MyTheresa Host a Pre-Christmas Knees-Up

Christopher Kane is a great designer and a great Scot. Last night in London he reaffirmed both by wearing a kilt in the unofficial anti-tartan of clan fashion: all black. Kane was brazenly flaunting his shapely pins at a Christmas party in his honor thrown by MyTheresa. Held at the Lanesborough hotel, in a room filled with a Narnian concentration of beautifully scented undecorated fir trees, the fete was soundtracked by Licence to Ceilidh, a traditional Scottish dance band. Cue much valiant endeavor to master the pivot, partner swap, and step of the Gay Gordons (the name of one dance) by a set of Kane-clad guests who included Delfina Delettrez, Veronika Heilbrunner, Laura Carmichael, Tina Leung, Mimi Xu, Bronwyn Fisher, Stephen Jones, Erdem Moralioglu, and Patrick Grant (who was clearly a ceilidh habitué). Surely Kane, as a Scot, would be a pro, too? As he prepared to launch into the Gay Gordons with dance partner Massimiliano “Mao” Di Battista, the designer demurred: “No, not at all! I’ve got no idea how to do this!” They danced beautifully.
